New Filly!

Kristine and I are VERY pleased to introduce you to Classy, our newest family member.  Classy was born this afternoon (5 Mar) at 3:12 p.m.  She is sired by our stallion, Magnum, and her dam is Annie, one of our broodmares.  Although she didn't get any spots or a white blanket, she did end up with a gorgeous base coat color of 'classic champagne'.  She's beautifully built and backed by some awesome bloodlines.  We are absolutely in love with this filly!  Here's a little timeline on how it all went.  Yesterday, Annie was showing early signs that she was getting ready to foal, so Kristine did 'foal watch' throughout the night last night.  (Where she got up every hour or so to check on Annie's progress, and make sure she wasn't foaling or anything.)  Well, wouldn't you know it, she didn't foal last night, so Kristine was pretty dang tired today.  When I left for work, I told her to call me at work if Annie's water broke.  All day, I waited for that call, but it never came.  I got off at 2 p.m. and headed home.  When I got to the driveway, around 2:30, Kristine had just come from the barn, all excited, saying "She's dripping milk!!"  (a sign that Annie was very close to foaling).  So, I went inside and changed clothes and came back out to the barn to help Kristine with cleaning the stalls.  At 3:01, we heard [what sounded like] Annie peeing, so we checked in her stall, and sure enough, her water had just broke.  Kristine and I ran into the house and grabbed the foaling kit (supplies we prepared for the 'event') and the cameras.  At 3:04, Annie found a good spot to lay down and began pushing!  First, out came the front feet, followed by the head.  And by 3:12, that filly was out!  We spent some time cleaning her up, and 'imprinting' her...and by 3:50, "Classy" was standing up on her own!  ...  I'm so glad I got to be there for it.  We were almost positive that Annie would foal out while I was at work, this morning.  We got the whole thing on video, and I took as many pictures as I could.  Annie's not a very big mare, and that baby was pretty big, so she needed some help getting it out, so we helped her through the contractions by pulling the baby out when Annie would push.
