As part of my
base inprocessing, the Scott AFB invited Kristine and I on a tour of the local
area, to include St Louis. We, of course, took the camera with to take a
few photos while on the tour. First, we went by the Gateway Arch.
It's pretty neat, it's about 600 feet tall (I think!), and you can take an
elevator ride up to the top and look out the teeny little windows. We
didn't get out of the bus at the arch, I think they were just giving us a teaser
of it, to come back another time.
Then, they took
us to this Catholic Church. A Basilica, to be exact. Neither of us
have heard that word before, but they basically said it's a SUPER NICE
CHURCH! We'd have to agree. Check out the mosaic's in this
place! (For those of you who didn't know, mosaic's are pieces of art put
together with little pieces of different colored glass to make pictures or
designs):
And, here's just
another couple of pictures from around the museums of art and history:
What's neat about all of the things in St Louis, is that there are no 'entry fees'. Missouri residents pay an extra tax that compensates for the entry fees, so we tourists can feel free to visit the Arch, the Cathedral, Zoo, museums, etc free of charge! Sweet, huh? Also, the Budweiser plant is in St Louis....we're planning on a trip there, when we get a chance!!!
