The results finally came in!  Back in May Jake had to test for making Staff Sergeant (E-5) in the Air Force.  The final scores are then figured from a combination of things.  May of 2004 was Jake's first chance to test...and he made it!  CONGRATULATIONS, HONEY!  =)  It will be mid/late-winter before he can actually 'sew-on' his new stripes, due to his line number (assigned to each person who tested, because they can't promote everyone at once)  Some technical information:

The points come from EPRs (Enlisted Performance Reports, Jake has all "5's", with NO markdowns...), time in service, time in grade (pay grade, that is), points for decorations, and then the two tests.  PFE (Promotion Fitness Examination), and SKT (Job specific stuff).

33306 tested, they promoted 13625 with a 40.91% selection rate.  Jake's line number is 6721.
The average selectee has 1.77 years time in grade and 4.39 years in service. Those selected will be promoted to Staff Sergeant from September to August 2005.  Jacob had 1.5 years time in grade and 3.9 years in service.
